A short lived issue printed by De La Rue in 1883-1884 with the the 1½d to 3d printed in lilac with 4d to 1/- printed in green. Not perhaps one of the most popular issues as the colours easily fade and it is certainly a challenge to find a very fine used set with good original colours and light cancellations. This is however a nice 'stand alone' issue to collect with die proofs, colour trials and a fine selection of usages - with good destinations available to the enquiring collector. The only major rarities are the unissued 5d with line under d of value - although die proofs of this variety are occasionally available and the error imperforates. The 9d on cover is not an easy usage.
