    1887 MAIL KINGSTON ON THAMES TO SIMLA, INDIA WITH 9D GREEN (SG195) AND 1D LILAC (SG172). Envelope, some peripheral imperfections, from Kingston on Thames to 'Lt. Colonel Collen, Oatlands, Simla, India' with manuscript 'via Brindisi' with fine 9d green (SG195) lettered LR and 1d lilac (SG172) tied fine strikes 'KINGSTON-ON-THAMES/422' duplex AU 19 87. On reverse 'SEA POST OFFICE' date stamp 25 AUG and 'SIMLA' date stamp SE 8 87. One of the rarest surface printed stamps on cover, Brauers records only 7 covers and 1 front not including this usage.
