Wrapper, slight smudging of ink, from Alston to 'The Bank of Scotland, Glasgow' with post paid manuscript '1' and very fine strike oval 'PAID/at/ALSTON' Uniform Penny Post hand stamp in red (CU28). Also on front 'PENRITH' date stamp DE 10 1844 in blue (CU392) and on reverse very fine strike 'ALSTON' date stamp DE 9 1844 in red. (Ref 135004).
