Description
1843 SHROPS/'OAKEN-GATES' UDC/PL.30 (QD)(SG8). Very fine entire from Bank Cottage nr Wellington to 'Mr Liddle Esq Solicitor Newport' with 1d pl.30 (SG8) lettered QD with four close to good margins, cancelled fine to very fine strike of a black Maltese Cross (tied from reverse). Stamp shows fine constant variety 'MARK NE SQUARE' present on imprimatur sheet but unlisted by SG. On reverse good large part strike OAKEN-GATES udc in black (SH384) used 1 year earlier than County Cat. records, also WELLINGTON-SALOP date stamp NO 6 1843 and NEWPORT-SALOP date stamp NO 7 1843.
