1875 2½D ROSY MAUVE PL.2 LH/FL ERROR OF LETTERING (SG140) USED ON COVER. Letter from London to Rome with 1d pl.148 (SG43) lettered SK, filing fold affects also 2½d rosy mauve pl.2 x 2 (SG141) including an example with THE ERROR OF LETTERING LH/FL (SG140). Stamps tied good strikes 'LONDON/97' duplex SP 17 75, with cancellation partly covering error of lettering. A very rare usage and the first example we have seen for many years. (Ref 139435).
