1849 MAIL ASHBOURNE, DERBYS TO HULL WITH 2D BLUE PL.3 (SG14) WITH BLUE '28' NUMERAL OF ASHBOURNE (SPEC E1wb). Wrapper, slight soiling and creasing, from Ashbourne in Derbyshire to 'Geo. Stamp Esq, Solicitor, Hull' with good used 2d blue pl.3 (SG14) lettered RL, touched at lower left otherwise close to good margins, filing fold affects but tied fine strike '28' numeral of Ashbourne in blue (Spec E1wb). On front fine strike 'ASHBOURNE' date stamp JA 3 1849 also in blue. Rare provincial coloured numeral on a twopenny blue and apparently one of two such examples recorded from Ashbourne. (Ref 139371).
