Letter from Carmarthen dated 13 Oct 1840 to 'James Hastie Esq, Solicitor, 31 Broad Street Buildings, London' with good to fine 2d pale blue pl.1 (SG6) lettered SD, fine four margins, light bend at top, tied light strike red Maltese cross of Carmarthen. On reverse 'CARMARTHEN' date stamp OC 13 1840 and London date stamp 15 OC 1840. Rare usage of the 1840 twopenny blue from Wales. (Ref 139434).
