1755 MAIL SOUTH ELMHAM, SUFFOLK TO LONDON WITH 'BUNGEY' HAND STAMP (SK60). Letter from South Elmham dated 24th May 1755, letter slightly fragile, 'To Robert Chester Esq, att The Chancery Office in Chancery Lane, London', charged '4' and on reverse light strike 'BUNGEY' straight line hand stamp in black with ERROR OF SPELLING (SK60) part overstruck London Bishop mark '26/MA'. Letter references the 'Deeds returned.... by the Yarmo Stage Coach'. Tom Slemons records this very scarce hand stamp 1761-1765. (Ref 137891).
