1857 MAIL STRACHUR (CO. ARGYLL) TO DUNOON WITH 'STRACHUR' SCOTS LOCAL CANCELLATION TYPE VIII IN BLACK. Envelope, slight soiling at top, from Strachur to 'Mr McLeod, Inspector of Poor, Dunoon' with die 2 1d rose-red on white paper (SG40) lettered MG, small fault at upper right but tied fine almost complete strike 'STRACHUR' Scots local cancellation type VIII in black (Parent Post Office Cairndow). On reverse 'CAIRNDOW' date stamp NO 6 1857 and 'GREENOCK' and 'DUNOON' date stamps NO 7 1857. Very scarce cancellation. (Ref 136620).
