1955 QE II CASTLE ISSUE DIE PROOF OF WILDING HEAD WITH DIADEM IN ULTRAMARINE ENGRAVED BY HAROLD BARD. A superb and very rare die proof of the Queen's head for the QE II Castle issue in ultramarine on white glazed wove paper, 29 x 32. Ex Harold Bard archive, Bard was an engraver employed by Waterlow and Sons, Bradbury Wilkinson and De La Rue and was the engraver for the Pictorial and Portrait portions of the Castle design. Very rare and in forty years trading we have only seen seven Castle head die proofs. (Ref 135019).
