1896 G.P.O. 'TIME BILL' FOR THE MAIL TRAIN EXETER TO BARNSTAPLE AND BARNSTAPLE BACK TO EXETER. A rare unused 'GENERAL POST OFFICE... EXETER to BARNSTAPLE Time Bill' with fine printed details of the railway station stops, expected time of arrival or departure and at left space for the guard to make particular comments concerning any incidents. This example lists the following stations: Exeter, Crediton, Yeoford, Coppleston, Morchard Road, Eggesford, South Molton Road and Barnstaple. These Time Bills would have been postmarked upon arrival and then sent using the printed address panel on reverse to 'The Inspector-General of Mails, General Post Office, London'. A rare survivor and ex the personal archive of Mr. F. McDonnell who was a member of the Department of the Inspector General of Mails. (Ref 134493).
