1840-41 MATCHED PAIR 1D INTENSE BLACK PL.8 ON COVER (SG1) AND 1D RED (SG7) LETTERED BB. Fine letter dated Jan 20 1841 from Slough in Berkshire to 'I. Darrill Esq, Solicitor, Peascod St, Windsor' with fine used 1d intense black pl.8 (SG1) lettered BB with four fine margins and cancelled fine strike red Maltese cross. On front fair strike boxed 'Colnbrook/Penny Post' hand stamp in black (BU117), used one year later than County Catalogue records (1830-1840). Filing fold well clear of stamp. Matched with good used 1d red (SG7), thin spot on reverse but fine four margins and fine strike black Maltese cross. (Ref 132964).
