1839 FREE FRONT FROM ALNWICK TO LONDON SIGNED 'GREY' AND WITH 'ALNMOUTH/PENNY POST' HAND STAMP (NR5). Free front, some creasing from Alnwick to London dated Sept eleven 1839, charged '1' (Penny Post), on front good to fine strike 'Alnmouth/Penny Post' hand stamp in black (NR5) and fine strike 'To pay 1D. only' hand stamp in brown (L818b). At lower left signature 'Grey', Charles Grey who was Prime Minister 1830-1834 and of 'Earl Grey' tea fame. (Ref 132715).
