1764 'RJ' LONDON GENERAL POST RECEIVER'S HAND STAMP OF ROBERT JONES ON MAIL LONDON TO EDINBURGH. Fine letter from Temple, London dated 12 Sep 1764 'To Mr. Charles Brown, writer to His Majesty's Signet, Edinburgh' and charged '6'. On reverse, over flap, good strike circular hand stamp 'RJ' of the London General Post receiver Robert Jones and fine strike London Bishop mark '13/SE'. Robert Jones was the General Post receiver at Temple and used a variety of circular hand stamps, although this particular hand stamp 12mm diameter has not been previously recorded. (Ref 129468).
