    1828 FREE FRONT MAIL TO SOUTHWARK FROM THE 'HOUSE OF PEERS' (HOUSE OF LORDS) WITH 'H:P.' HAND STAMP (L560) AND 'MS' MISSORTED HAND STAMP (L563). Good to fine free front, small tear at top, addressed to 'The Right Honorable The Master Of the Rolls, Southwark' with fine strike hand stamp '2' charge mark in black, also on front fine strike of the first smaller type 'H:P.' hand stamp in red (L560) applied on mail received at The House of Lords and given this hand stamp before being passed on into the General Post. Also on front good to fine strike of the rare 'MS' missorted hand stamp in red (L563) and whilst front undated this hand stamp only recorded in use 1828. The 'H:P.' hand stamp is rare because MPs and Peers could use their franking privilege to avoid postal charges. (Ref 126336).
