1784 MAIL FROM PRISONER KINGS BENCH PRISON TO HARLEY STREET WITH 'PENNY POST NOT PAID/W' HAND STAMP (L394). Fine letter from one Henry Creswicke a prisoner within Kings Bench Prison, Southwark dated May 4th 1784 to 'Wm Dickinson Esqr. No.8 Upper Harley Street', writer discussing his pending discharge from the prison. On front good strike of the circular 'PENNY POST NOT PAID/W' hand stamp in black (L394) applied to unpaid letters transferred from the General Post to the Penny Post. On reverse several strikes London Bishop mark '4/MA' and '5/MA'. Good usage. (Ref 126328).
