1840 DORSET/'BLANDFORD PENNY POST' HAND STAMP (DT56). Fine letter Sturminster to 'Mefsrs Hodding Solrs. Salisbury' dated 18th May 1840 with postage paid in cash, presumably no Penny Blacks available and on front good strike boxed 'No.1' receiving house hand stamp of Sturminster Newton. On reverse fair to good strike 'BLANDFORD/18 MY 1840/PY POST' hand stamp in red (DT56). (Ref 119690).
