Description
1840 DORSET/'BLANDFORD PENNY POST' HAND STAMP (DT56). Fine letter used locally in Blandford dated May 23rd 1840 with postage paid in cash, presumably no Penny Blacks available and on front fine strike boxed 'No.1' receiving house hand stamp of Sturminster Newton. On reverse very fine strike 'BLANDFORD/27 MY 1840/PY POST' hand stamp in red (DT56). (Ref 119688).
