Fine letter from Chapple House Cheriton nr Wincanton to "Mr Hinkman Ivy Church House near Salisbury" dated 1st October 1825, charged "6" and on front very fine strike boxed "No.3" receiver's hand stamp of Wincanton (Somerset), on reverse very fine strike of the boxed "SHAFTESBURY/5th Clause Post" (DT470). Under this act local Post Masters were authorised to make independent arrangements for the collection and delivery of local mail. (Ref 111378).
