1840 LETTER LLANGOLLEN, DENBIGHSHIRE TO DOLGELLY WITH 1D BLACK PL.2 (SG2)(KF). Letter from Llangollen dated 23rd July 1840 to 'John Jones Esq, Solr, Dolgelly' with good 1d black pl.2 (SG2) lettered KF, just touched at upper right, tied fine to very fine strike red-orange Maltese cross of Llangollen. On front very fine strike 'LLANGOLLEN' date stamp in same colour 23 JY 1840. Stamp clearly shows 7 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square. Scarce example of penny black used within Wales. (Ref 138772).
