1903 MAIL USED LOCALLY IN BIRMINGHAM 'FOUND OPEN' AND SEALED WITH 'BIRMINGHAM/CROWN' SEAL AND 'FOUND OPEN AND/RESEALED AT BIRMINGHAM' INSTRUCTIONAL. Envelope used locally in Birmingham addressed to 'G. Wilkes Esq., The Yews, Albert Rd, Stechford' with KEDVII 1d (SG219) tied fine strike BIRMINGHAM double ring date stamp DE 29 03. Envelope was found open at Birmingham Post Office and resealed on reverse with a very fine strike of the 'BIRMINGHAM/CROWN' wax seal and alongside fine strike of the very scarce 'Found open and/resealed at Birmingham' instructional hand stamp in black. Very unusual usage. Accompanied by a 1979 equivalent, a 'Found open or damaged/and officially secured' POST OFFICE label with manuscript 'Glass with care' and alongside fine strike 'BIRMINGHAM/PARCELS' circular date stamp in purple 24 MAY 1979.
