1839 UNIFORM FOURPENNY POST MAIL PITCAPLE TO ABERDEEN WITH 'PITCAPLE' STRAIGHT LINE HAND STAMP. Fine letter from Pitcaple 'To Thomas Burnett Esq... Aberdeen' with fine manuscript charge '4', on reverse fine strike of the very scarce 'PITCAPLE' straight line hand stamp in black. Letter dated Dec 20 1839, date slightly unclear but year is confirmed by charge of '4', if 1838 the charge would have been 5d for a single letter above 15 miles but not exceeding 20 miles.
