CIRCA 1845 PIECE WITH 1D PL.55 (SG8)(GJ) LATE MALTESE CROSS AT CHAPELTOWN, SHEFFIELD. Undated piece, circa 1845 with 1d pl.55 (SG8) lettered GJ, touched at left otherwise good margins and cancelled fine strike black Maltese cross. Alongside good to fine strike 'CHAPELTOWN-SHEFFIELD' udc in black. This late use of the Maltese cross at Chapeltown, Sheffield is recorded by Mike Jackson in Vol 2 page 246 where he notes 33 such examples between Nov 41 and May 51. (Ref 136593).
