1720 MAIL IPSWICH TO LONDON WITH 'IPSWICH' STRAIGHT LINE HAND STAMP WITH LINES ABOVE AND BELOW (SK179b/SFK320). Fine entire letter from Ipswich dated Feb 13 1720 'To The honble Dudley North Esq, Member In Parliament at his House, in Soho Square, London' with initial postal charge crossed through and presumably treated as a free frank. On reverse very fine to superb strike of the very rare and early 'IPSWICH' straight line hand stamp in black with lines above and below (SK179b/SFK320). Alongside fine strike London Bishop mark '15/FE'. Apparently only two examples recorded of this hand stamp which we have not seen before, this usage and one dated 17 Jan 1720. Very early and very rare provincial hand stamp. (Ref 138615).
