Description
1844 ENVELOPE WALSALL TO KNOCKIN, SHREWSBURY WITH UNUSUAL MANUSCRIPT 'IN THE HALL BAG'. Envelope, spike hole, from Walsall to 'Mr Edwd Griffiths, Knockin, Shrewsbury' with 'Knockin' being a reference to 'Knockin Hall'. On front 1d (SG8) lettered TH, touched in two places and fault at foot tied indistinct numeral and at lower left very unusual manuscript 'In the Hall bag', evidently a mail bag was made up just for Knockin Hall. On reverse 'WALSALL' date stamp JY 13 1844. (Ref 132803).
