Fine letter from Longville in Shropshire, slight soiling within only, dated 6 Dec 1840 with fine 1d black pl.4 (SG2) lettered MD with fine four margins and tied red Maltese cross of Shrewsbury. On reverse 'SHREWSBURY' date stamp DE 7 1840. The stamp clearly shows dots within postage and letter squares, plate four is known as the 'spotty plate'. (Ref 133809).
