CIRCA 1708-1713 MAIL FROM SHIFNAL, SHROPS TO LONDON WITH 'SHEFFNALL' HAND STAMP (SH491). A fine wrapper from Shifnal in Shropshire 'To The Right Honourable John Leveson Gower att Leicester houfe, London' charged '1/4'?, on reverse fine to very fine strike of the very rare 'SHEFFNALL' straight line hand stamp in black (SH491) and London Bishop mark '27/FE'. Whilst undated the 'SHEFFNALL' hand stamp is only recorded 1708-1713 and all British provincial hand stamps pre 1740 are very rare and very sought after. (Ref 132952).
