Wrapper, tear at lower right, from London to 'H B Maxwell Esq, New Club, Edinburgh' with die 2 1d pl.38 red-brown on very blued paper (SG29) lettered TF tied London numeral. Wrapper re-directed to 'Post office, Brighton' with manuscript charge '1', on front manuscript 'Refused'. On reverse London date stamp SEP 2 1856 and 'BRIGHTON' date stamp SP 4 1856. (Ref 136136).
