Fine 1d pink envelope Stirling to 'Mrs S Erskine, Dunimarle, Culross' cancelled very fine strike of the distinctive Maltese cross of Stirling. On reverse 'STIRLING' datestamp JN 6 1844. Jackson records only eleven examples between 31 Aug 1843 and 21 June 1844, this being the only example noted on the 1d pink envelope. Very scarce and attractive usage. (Ref 51283).
