THE WANGFORD MALTESE CROSS OF SUFFOLK ON TWO 1D PINK ENVELOPES, 1841 AND 1843. Fine 1d pink envelope from Wangford to London cancelled fine to very fine strike Wangford Maltese cross in black, on reverse 'WANGFORD' date stamp AU 5 1841 and wafer seal. Also 1843 1d pink envelope from Wangford to Kilmarnock, some creasing and small tear, also cancelled fine to very fine strike of the Wangford Maltese cross, on reverse 'WANGFORD' date stamp DE 26 1843. This Maltese cross is of particular interest because it is the only Maltese cross hand stamp still in existence, used examples are very scarce and Mike Jackson only records six. (2 items).
