1840 ORIGINAL CHARLES WHITING AND WILLIAM WYON ESSAY FOR STAMPING PAPER IN YELLOW-GREEN. A very fine envelope, 132 x 83, produced in 1840 by Charles Whiting and William Wyon for proposed Stamping Paper proposal for prepaid postage. At upper left a very fine embossed 'PAID' oval essay in yellow-green with the Queen's head in centre. A rare original essay produced as an alternative to the Mulready envelope, this example ex Folkard collection. (Ref 134269).
