Mourning envelope from Melksham to 'J B Merriman Esq, Marlborough' with 1d (SG8) lettered TH, touched at lower right and tied '521' numeral of Melksham. Postage underpaid and on front fine strike of the very scarce Melksham hand stamp '2' charge mark in dark blue, alongside manuscript 'more'. On reverse 'MELKSHAM' date stamp in the same dark blue colour as the '2' hand stamp OC 1 1851. Fine usage. (Ref 137717).
