1845 PIECE WITH 1D PL.54 (SG8)(DK) LATE USE MALTESE CROSS CANCELLATION. Small piece with fine used 1d pl.54 (SG8) lettered DK, fine four margins, lightly tied at foot by good strike black Maltese cross and alongside light strike 'CHAPELTOWN SHEFFIELD' udc, on reverse 'SHEFFIELD' date stamp JY 31 1845. This late usage of the Maltese cross at Chapeltown, near Sheffield is recorded by Mike Jackson in Vol 2 page 246 where he notes 33 such examples between Nov 41 and May 51 including this example.
