Very fine used 1842 1d pl.28 (SG8) lettered TL IN STATE ONE OF THE PLATE with four good to enormous margins and cancelled fine large part strike black Maltese cross in a WATERY INK. Matched with good used example also lettered TL IN STATE TWO OF THE PLATE with four good to fine margins but very small thin spot on reverse and cancelled fine strike black Maltese cross. The state two shows 'THINNER CHECK LETTERS, STRONGER QUEEN'S HEAD, STRONGER RIGHT FRAMELINE and 'L' MUCH THINNER'. Very scarce matched pair. (2 items). (Ref 137035).
