1855 QEII CASTLE ISSUE DIE PROOF OF WILDING HEAD WITH DIADEM IN BLACK ENGRAVED BY HAROLD BARD. A superb and very rare die proof of the Queen's head for the QEII Castle issue in black on white glazed wove paper, 66 x 67mm. Bard was an engraver employed by Waterlow and Sons, Bradbury Wilkinson and De la Rue, he was the engraver for the pictorial and portrait portions of the Castle design. Very rare and in forty years trading we have only seen seven Castle head die proofs. (Ref 139736).
