1838 MAIL PETERBOROUGH TO ST. ALBANS WITH THREE LINE 'PETER-/-BOROUGH/PENNY POST' HAND STAMP (NN197). Fine wrapper, slight imperfections, from Thorney Abbey (Cambs) to 'Mr W. H. Willmott, St. Stephens, nr St Albans Herts' dated Jan 22nd 1838 and charged '1/5', uprated to '1/7' to include 2d local delivery within St Albans. On front good to fine strike of the boxed three line 'Peter-/-borough/Penny Post' hand stamp in black (NN197) also fair strike of the boxed 'No.4' receiving house hand stamp of Thorney. On reverse PETERBOROUGH date stamp JA 22 1838 (NN194). Good usage. (Ref 125101).
