1840 ENTIRE LETTER MAILED 9TH JAN 1840, LAST DAY UNIFORM FOURPENNY POST TO LONDON AND RE-DIRECTED TO DAVENTRY 10TH JAN 1840, FIRST DAY UNIFORM PENNY POST. A fine 'Equitable Assurance Office' printed letter with Assurance tables, used in London (?) to Temple Bar with manuscript 'pd 4d' and presumably mailed 9th January 1840, last day of the Uniform Fourpenny Post, re-directed to Daventry and then again to Westminster with fine strike 'PAID/10 JA 10/1840' date stamp in red, first day Uniform Penny Post. Also on front 'WEEDON' date stamp JA 13 1840. A very rare cover and although date line is not totally clear it shows payment of Uniform Fourpenny Post and Uniform Penny Post, latter on the first day. (Ref 135791).
