1772 MAIL USED IN LONDON WITH 'CADE' LONDON GENERAL POST RECEIVER'S STRAIGHT LINE HAND STAMP (L375) AND WESTMINSTER OFFICE DOCKWRA HAND STAMP (L363). Fine letter used in London from China Walk, Chelsea (now Cheyne Walk) to 'Mr James Brander, Merchant, No 45 Mark Lane'. On reverse good to fine strike 'CADE' London General Post receiver's straight line hand stamp in black (L375), Mr Cade, a tea dealer and grocer was also a London General Post receiver who used this hand stamp 1772 until 1798, this item being the earliest recorded example. Also on reverse fine strike (over flap) Westminster Office Dockwra hand stamp type 4 (L363)(PENNY at left) within 'W/TH' and fine strike '7/o'CLOCK/G' time hand stamp (L366).
