1786 MAIL USED LOCALLY IN LONDON WITH 'HODGSON' LONDON POST RECEIVER'S HAND STAMP (L375), TIME HAND STAMP (L368) AND WESTMINSTER DOCKWRA (L363a). Fine letter from Wimpole Street to 'Revd. Doctor Wynne, Little Chelsea' dated 4th Jan 1786, on reverse good strike 'HODGSON' straight line London Post receiver's hand stamp, underlined at foot (L375). Also on reverse good strike larger double ring time hand stamp 'O-CLOCK/7/W' (L368) and fair strike Westminster Office Dockwra type 4a (L363a) (PENNY at left) within 'W/WE' (L363a). Hodgson was known to have used this mark from 1783 to 1791. (Ref 129232).
