Description
1788 MAIL CLAPHAM TO THE STRAND WITH SOUTHWARK DOCKWRA (L354) AND 'BULL' LONDON RECEIVER'S HAND STAMP. Fine entire from Clapham dated 9th December 1788 addressed to 'Mr Booth, Attorney at Law, Craven Street Strand', on reverse good strike Southwark Dockwra (L354) 'S/TU' and fine strike 'BULL' straight line hand stamp of the London Penny Post receiver. It is probable that Mr Bull was the London Penny Post receiver at Clapham and not at Leadenhall as Feldman suggests. This receiver's hand stamp only in use 1787 to 1788. (Ref 123391).
