1842 MAIL BIRMINGHAM TO STAMFORD WITH SUPERB PRINTED CONTENTS DETAILING IMPORTANT SALE OF VARIOUS WOODS INCLUDING ZEBRA WOOD. Very fine entire Birmingham to 'Mr Boyfield, Builder Stamford' with 1d (SG8) lettered EC, just touched upper right otherwise good margins and cancelled black Maltese Cross. On reverse BIRMINGHAM date stamp MY 3 1842. Within superb printed auction notice 'TO Cabinet Makers, Timber Merchants, Coach Builders, etc./IMPORTANT SALE OF MAHOGANY, ROSE AND ZEBRA WOOD, KNOTTED OAK, PENCIL CEDAR ETC'.... 'WILL BE SOLD BY AUCTION, ON THE PREMISES OF MESSRS. STONEY AND CLARKE, HIGH PAVEMENT, NOTTINGHAM, On MONDAY, the 9th of May, 1842 ...'. On front manuscript 'This letter was left at Burghley Park cottage by poor Mr Thos. Boyfield about ¼ of an hour before he was killed on Thursday 5th May 1842'. Superb usage. (Ref 123576).
