1834 MAIL EDINBURGH TO LONDON 'TO LIE TILL CALLED FOR' WITH 'NOT CALLED FOR' HAND STAMP (L258). Letter from Edinburgh to 'Mrs Helen Amos, London' dated 3 Oct 1834 with additional manuscript on front 'To lie till called for', charged '1/1', also on front good strike 'Addl./½' wheel tax hand stamp in black. Letter was evidently not collected and on front and on reverse are two fair to fine strikes of the London instructional 'NOT CALLED FOR' straight line hand stamp in red (L258). On reverse Edinburgh and London date stamps OCT 4 1834 and 6 OC 1834 respectively. Letter fault at center top on front but a rare hand stamp and seldom offered. (Ref 126598).
