Entire from Thorney Abbey to 'Mr Willmott, St. Stephens, near St. Albans Herts' dated August 18 1838 and charged '9'. On front good part strike boxed three line 'Peter-/-borough/Penny Post' hand stamp in black (NN197) and boxed 'No.4' receiving house hand stamp in black of Thorney. Postal charge rerated to '11' to reflect additional 2d charge for local delivery within St. Albans. On reverse PETERBOROUGH date stamp AU 18 1838 (NN194). (Ref 125104).
