Description
1842 MAIL BIRMINGHAM TO BRISTOL WITH BIRMINGHAM MALTESE CROSS. Letter Birmingham to 'Mr James Harford, 3 Augustins Parade, Bristol' with 1d (SG8) lettered DF, just touched at lower right and scissor cut upper left into design but tied fine strike Birmingham Maltese cross type 2, illustrated page 51 of Rockoff and Jackson. On reverse BIRMINGHAM and BRISTOL date stamps JY 9 1842 and JY 10 1842. Also on reverse a circular wafer seal depicting a cat and mouse inscribed 'PLEASE DONT'. (Ref 129748).
