PL.44 (CH) VERY DEEP RED-BROWN (SG29 VAR) ON COVER LONDON TO DORSET. Fine envelope London to Poole Dorset with a fine die 2 1d pl.44 lettered CH in a VERY DEEP RED-BROWN shade, with a hint of orange-brown, tied neat London "40" Inland numeral. On reverse London date stamp MR 17 1857 and "Cornhill" straight line receiver's hand stamp in black. Very unusual shade. (Ref 114143).
