Description
1918 'STAMP COLLECTING' AERIAL SOUVENIR OF THE MULREADY DESIGN FROM PARIS TO STAMP DEALER 'F. HUGH VALLENCEY' IN LONDON. A very fine example, unusual for this, of the post card based on the Mulready design inscribed 'STAMP COLLECTING AERIAL SOUVENIR. A GREETING FROM THE CLOUDS. This souvenir was posted from French soil. It was conveyed across the channel in an aeroplane by me on the date shown on the Postmark' and underneath printed signature of the stamp dealer 'F Hugh Vallancey'. On reverse no French stamp paying postage but with manuscript date 10 12 18, boxed 'Crown PASSED BY CENSOR No.7029' hand stamp and addressed to Vallancey in Farringdon Street, London. Vallancey was the editor of the Stamp Collecting magazine. Presumably carried by aeroplane without postage paid. (Ref 137778).
