A fine entire letter from Dromore in Ireland dated 31st December 1844 'For Mr Joseph McClegan of Newburgh Orange, State of New York, America' (address very slightly enhanced) with good to fine strip of four 2d blue pl.3 (SG14) lettered KG KH KI KJ, very close in several points but just clear, tied fine strikes '181' numeral of Dromore. On front manuscript 'Private Ship' and stamps are paying the 8d Private Ship Rate of ½oz. On reverse 'SHIP-LETTER/LIVERPOOL' date stamp JA 6 45. Rare usage. (Ref 136105).
