1854 1D ARCHER EXPERIMENTAL PERFORATION PLATE 93 (SG16b)(KD) ON COVER SHREWSBURY TO LUDLOW WITH 'SHREWSBURY/708' SPOON CANCELLATION. Envelope, minor imperfections, from Shrewsbury to 'John Lloyd Esq., Ludlow' with a fine 1d Archer experimental perforation from plate 93 (SG16b) lettered KD tied fine strike 'SHREWSBURY/708' spoon type 'A' (RA116) 10 AP 1854, code 'E' inverted. Archer centred slightly to left but shows 'K MISPLACED IN LETTER SQUARE' and matched with 1d imperf (SG8) with fine four margins. Very early use of the spoon cancellation with earliest known date 2nd April 1854. A very rare usage of the 1d Archer within Shropshire and one of only two examples recorded, the other being plate 93, lettered GG used from Shrewsbury in June 1851. (Ref 131551).
