1841 MAIL FROM WATERFORD, SOUTHERN IRELAND TO BRISTOL WITH 1D BLACK PL.10 (SG2)(FI) VIA THE WATERFORD-MILFORD HAVEN ROUTE. Letter from Waterford dated 8th March 1841 to 'Mr John S Lewis, Small Street, Bristol' with 1d black pl.10 (SG2) lettered FI, cut into at upper right but tied good strike black Maltese cross. Stamp shows 'O' flaw state 2 and tall 'I'. Filing fold well clear of stamp. On reverse 'WATERFORD' date stamp MR 8 1841 and 'BRISTOL' date stamp MR 10 1841. These back stamps and the absence of a Dublin date stamp confirm this letter was carried on the much scarcer Waterford-Milford Haven postal route. Rare usage. (Ref 135769).
