1840-1841 PAIR OF COVERS FROM COALBROOKDALE WITH 1840 1D BLACK (SG2) AND 1840 2D BLUE (SG4). Fine letter from Coalbrookdale dated Feb 19 1841 to Ludlow with fine used 1d black (SG2) pl.6 lettered OK tied several strikes black Maltese cross of Ironbridge, on front 'IRONBRIDGE' date stamp FE 19 1841. Also letter from Coalbrookdale dated July 20th 1840 to Ludlow, some creasing with 1840 2d blue (SG4) pl.1 lettered EF, touched in two places tied fine strike red Maltese cross of Shrewsbury. A rare 'matched pair' of the world's first two stamps both used from Coalbrookdale in Shropshire. (2 items). (Ref 132771).
